Description/Job Summary

Maintain employee time records and process weekly payroll. Obtain financial data for maintaining accounting records, providing project teams with accounting support, ensuring excellent customer service to all constituents.

Responsibilities/Duties

Including but not limited to:

  • Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system, including employee hourly rates, prevailing wages, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions, loans, and withholding, address changes, promotions, and other information.
  • Set up prevailing wage and benefit amounts for Davis Bacon jobs in the payroll system.
  • Work with Group Leaders to ensure timely processing of all weekly timecards.
  • Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Transmit direct deposit information and electronic pay stubs.
  • Issue or reissue physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits.
  • Print W2, duplicate check stubs, and payroll reports for employees.
  • Generate and distribute labor reports and vacation summary reports weekly.
  • Post journal entries as needed.
  • Perform general project cost accounting and other related duties.
  • Receive, review, distribute for review/approval and post into the accounting system invoices and pay applications received from vendors and subcontractors as well as monthly client pay applications.
  • Provide accounting and financial support to project teams with all areas of project financials in ERP, including billing, payables, change events, project setup, reports, and project budget entry.
  • Process invoices for disbursement to vendors and subcontractors.
  • Verify invoice payments associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Process payments received from clients.
  • Assist with compilation of sales tax reports required by project owners.
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent in business management or accounting from two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of one-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to accurately and effectively complete data entry
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to new processes
  • Experience working with complex accounting/payroll systems
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of construction industry accounting/payroll preferred
